The Journal of American Medicine reports that more than one-third (approximately 79 million) U.S. adults are obese. Obesity has been shown to be a significant risk factor for “heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer.” The kicker is that these obesity-related conditions are the leading causes of preventable death. Yes, preventable death. Fortunately, these issues can be resolved by becoming and/or staying physically fit.
While people usually subscribe to the notion that physical fitness is for athletes and models, this article will present physical fitness as a preventive healthcare measure for everyone.
