Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, according to the World Cancer Research Fund; and on top of that, breast cancer is 100 times more likely to develop in women than in men, which means that simply being a woman is a huge risk factor for the disease. This brings up a very interesting issue: how does being a woman affect one’s health? The answer, according to MedlinePlus, is quite significantly. With October designated as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” the parade of pink ribbons should serve as a reminder that women must take their overall health seriously.
